I have been quotes the ring i want at 拢1500 for 18k white gold and 拢1800 for platinum. Is it worth the extra 拢300?Engagement ring advice!?
The price of platinum is about 1.6 time the price of gold, currently, which makes the platinum ring a bargain. Platinum is stronger than gold, and even more resistant to corrosion. If you like the look, and don't mind the extra expense, I'd go with the platinum.
By the way, 18K is a valid white gold alloy.
Good Luck!
GrandpaEngagement ring advice!?
My jeweler told me that platinum scratches easier than gold.
My ring is 14k white gold. It is rhodium plated, yes, but the white HAS not worn off in over 3 years. My jeweler said it would not wear off.
Platinum is more rare than gold, hence more expensive. If you can afford it, go for it unless you are concerned about scratching it as we were.
Also, FYI - It IS 18k(arat), not 18 carat, in regards to the metal. Speaking of the gemstone, then it is carat, not karat.
It depends what she likes ? ....... what does she wear more often or does she wear both type of gold if she does you mint want to get the ring with both tones of gold you know what I mean but if she only wears white or yellow gold then your gonna have to the other two route. I personally wear lot's of silver and white gold so my wedding and engagement ring is in white gold and yes is worth everything penny. Good Luck = )
yes. platinum is very hardwearing, but whitegold rubs off (its rhodium plating).
Platinum is much harder and lasts better - white gold rubs and shows the yellow gold underneath!! PLATINUM ALL THE WAY :)
Oh yes! Platinum is far rarer than gold and so is your girlfriend.
Yes.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are you asking us? We don't know either of you, and we can't see the rings?!?
