I have the ring One of the prongs are bent which is why it fell out. It could be anywhere on my property. I first noticed it was gone after gardening. I am SO SAD :( I'm afraid to tell my husband, my ring cost over 12K.I lost my diamond from my engagement ring.I'm not sure what to expect from my insurance co. Advice please...?
I'm so sorry for your loss!
Please look at your insurance policy to find out when you are supposed to report this.
If you have reciepts / documentation that shows that you have brought your ring in for regular bi-annual maintenance such as cleaning and prong inspection, you might be okay.

You need to call your insurance company and find out what the process is to start the claim. I know for my mother's anniversary band we had to take it to one of their certified jewlers (they gave us a list of folks in our area) to have it inspected. A close friend had a similar issue and her insurance company just sent them a check for the value of the diamond after they filled out a simple form. My sister in law discovered her ring wasn't covered under their home owners plan because it wasn't listed and appraised in the valuables section. In her case it was the whole ring, not just a stone. Call them and get the process started at least. As for telling your husband, I would just tell him. It's not like you threw the ring at the wall until the stone fell out. It wasn't something you really had much control over. If you get your jewelry cleaned every year professionally (most jewelers recomend this) then the last time it was cleaned they should have noticed the lose prong and fixed it. If you do have it cleaned professionally, you might want to check and see if there is any kind of warranty on the work as well.
If your ring was insured, You should get total replacement. If not you can claim it on your home owners insurance.
Also if you had separate insurance on it. you have to show that you took it in every so often to have it checked. And show proof that you did.
If your ring is covered under you insurance, you can replace the diamond.
Do you know if your ring had any kind of warranty on it from the jeweler? If so, they'd likely fix/replace your ring for no charge.
