Thinking of buying an engagement ring from Tiffanys, need advice?

I have a budget of 拢4,000 so $8,000 and am travelling to the US with work and have spoken to Tiffanys, I can get a .64 total carat weight for the center stone. There are an additional 16 diamonds on the band totaling .16 carats. The color grade is H and clarity VVS2. This ring is currently priced for $7,650.00.

Its a Tiffany Novo...

It is what my g/f wants so I have saved for this, my only concern is the colour H... what do people think? Any advice would be much appreciated?

The next priced ring is: (Is it worth saving a bit more...)

.72 total carat weight for the center stone. There are an additional 16 diamonds on the band totaling .16 carats. The color grade is H and clarity VVS2. This ring is currently priced for $8,850.00.Thinking of buying an engagement ring from Tiffanys, need advice?
Personally, I'd go to Hatton Garden with the design and get it made there. You'll get a bigger diamond for your money.Thinking of buying an engagement ring from Tiffanys, need advice?
Sorry, but that sounds like a very small diamond for that amount of money! For that kind of cash I would expect at least a carat center stone. Is she really that superficial that having it come ';from Tiffany's'; is that important to her? If she is that superficial, then she probably won't be satisfied with less than a carat, either.
Tiffany's is great but you are paying for the name. The mark up is like 4 thousand more than what you shoule be paying for that type of diamond. You could have a replica of that ring made with a bigger diamond for that price. Mine was 6000 and it is F in color and almost a carat and 1/2. Not from Tiffanys though. Good Luck!
If you're buying a Tiffany ring, you're going to pay for the brand name. No one will know where it's from when she's wearing it, so I could consider a different jewlery store if you want to get more for your money.

Talk to the people in the area where you're traveling and see if they can recommend a jeweler. At least to comparision shop to see what all your options are.

Best of luck!! :)
your girlfriend is a very lucky girl! u sound like a lovely to be fiancee.

I dont think H is bad at all and if its from Tiffany, am sure it will be of excellent quality.

However I do agree that you can get ALOT more for your money from a good jeweller in Hatton Gardens. there are alot of rubbish ones out there but there are some v v good ones who are less expensive simply because you are not paying for the brand.

However theere are alot of girls who want a Tiffany ring no matter what so in which case you will be ok with either of the two you have mentioned.
go to http://mdcdiamonds.com/engagementdetails鈥?/a> that is a novo ring for $765 or $1500 in platinum and then you can spend $6500 on a bigger nicer diamond http://mdcdiamonds.com/Sliders/searchDia鈥?/a>
To be totally honest, if this is the ring your g/f has chosen then don`t mess about with another, even if it is the same design. I think ANY ring from Tiffany would be a treat, and if you can afford it, why wait any longer...Its about time you popped the question.
Ultimately if this is what your soon to be fiance wants and you can afford then go for it.

The color H is not great quality but the only person it should matter to is the two of you.

Good Luck and Best Wishes!
Honestly, the color ratings are considered important and all, but once you look at the ring, you'll know if it's The One. A slight difference in color is nothing if the stone makes her heart leap.
if this is what she wants and you can afford it than go for it. it's a tiffany ring so i'm sure the quality is good and you will not notice the subtle difference in color grade.
marry me .... lol. Only joking, i think both the rings are perfect. Gosh im so jealous lol

EDIT: I think im gonna have to do some hinting to my partner lol

JEEZ, 3 thumbs down? Some people cant take a joke.
Will you marry me????

This sounds perfect! lol
Ive never had a chance to compare an H diamond (near colorless) to a D, E, or F (colorless). So I dont know if H is going to be noticeable or not.

However, Tiffany is meticulous about their diamonds and about their cuts. So I suspect that the ring will sparkle and shine!

You might ask to see a color grade F and compare it next to the H.

The upgrade to the .72 carat is about a thousand dollars, I think its worth the upgrade IF you can reasonably afford it now. But dont do it if you dont really have the money for it.

Either way, its going to be a gorgeous ring -- after all, its Tiffany! Good luck!
I understand that your gf is really keen on a Tiffany ring and it's wonderful of you to want to get one...but here's a piece of advice--with a Tiffany ring, you are paying for the name. It's not to say that the quality isn't good...it's just that you can get a similar ring elsewhere of the same quality, if not better for a lower price.

My cousin proposed to his now wife with a Tiffany solitaire--very plain and standard. He paid as much as my husband did for my ring, which was not only bigger but also of better quality because he steered clear of Tiffany's.

With the amount of money you have, you can easily get a custom-made ring of great quality--even one to replicate that Tiffany ring. Since you'll be in the US traveling, think about checking out the diamond district in NY and talking to some of the jewelers and pricing out similar rings--it would probably work to your advantage since they usually will also negotiate the price with you.

Good luck!
