Girls, engagement ring advice please…?

Right, so I’m going to buy my girlfriend an engagement ring. She knows I can’t afford a Tiffany’s ring so I checked around and have found a private company that will make me an exact 18 ct white-gold ring with a 0.75 carat diamond in it (I have asked for the specific cut, colour etc as well), made as an exact replica of the Tiffany one.





Here’s the deal. For My budget I can get the real Tiffany one at a half-carat or the identical replica at 0.75 carat (50% bigger!). The private dealer is cheaper because they cut out the middle man and don’t have the huge, fat profit mark-up that Tiffany has.





At the end of the day I want to give her more than a 0.5 carat so really it’s going to be a Tiffany replica or just something else but I just wanted your views on whether a replica Tiffany would be better or worse than a different standard ring?Girls, engagement ring advice please…?

It's not about whether you want to get her a higher carat or not. She might be one of those girls who would prefer to say 'Oh! It's from Tiffanys!' to all her friends.Girls, engagement ring advice please…?
If you have seen other pieces that he has made(he should have samples) and you are happy with the quality there is no not to buy the replica as long as you tell her so she does not take it into Tiffany's expecting they made it. I am sure she will love it! It does not matter where its from it matters that she loves the look of the ring. Go with the private dealer.
Does it really matter whether the ring is a Tiffany ring or not?? it needs to be a ring that she and you will like, she is going to wear it for the rest of her life. Will she really be that botherd if its a Tiffany or not? if she is then she is one materialistic girl, thats not a good thing. If it was me, i would want the ring that looked the nicest. If the bigger stone looked better i would want that, if the smaller stone looked better i would want that. I would not want a ring just because it had a name attached to it.
I got my wife a Tiffany replica.





I couldn't justify the price of a real Tiffany with a smaller stone.





So I got her a replica and larger, more beautiful stone.

sorry why does it HAVE to be tiffanies..or that style.. if it is a nice ring and you like it and she wil like it then it does not matter... it is the intent behind the ring that counts...


Instead of getting a copy.. go to local jewlers and see what they have,, u will prob get alot more for your money
if it was me getting the ring, i would much prefer something made especially for me as opposed to something smaller yet more expensive just because it comes from a certain store. it's not like the ring will have tiffany's written on it, so who's gunna know?
Have you seen any of this dealers work so you know its good? If you are happy with his work then go for it, hopefully your girlfriend will appreciate the fact that you have got something that is so close to what she like!

well you know your girl best, is she a name brand girl or does size matter more to her? for me, I don't care where it comes from as long as I got bling. well I mean it better not be a conflict diamond but those don't make it into the US that much anyway.

I'm not really going to answer your question but I wanted to give you something to think about. I used to be a complete skeptic of diamonds completely, I just didn't care about them at all. As a girl, and a jeweler, I finally grew to appreciate them and I like to shop around for no particular reason. After going many places and then going to Tiffany's I can see the difference, not in the setting or gold, but in the diamond itself. Tiffany's has better quality diamonds, all of them are better than everywhere else. I used to hate Tiffany's because so many girls want something, anything, from Tiffanys just because it is Tiffanys. But after looking, I don't want a diamond from anywhere else.





So, if you're not going to get a Tiffany's ring, don't get a fake Tiffany's ring. Their basic, classic solitaire setting is just like every other solitaire setting, I wouldn't bother getting anything custom made if it is that simple, it will cost you alot more, unless its one of the fancier unique settings, and is something she has told you she really wants.
It's whatever you think she would like. If you really feel that she would absolutely love the Tiffany replica with teh 0.75 carat stone - then go for it! I think it's so sweet that you think enough of her to buy a ring for her and give it to her. I always wished my husband would have cared enough about me and done that for me (proposed and given me a ring that is)... I'd say go with the replica - no use spending the extra money on something smaller just because of the name brand. It's ridiculous. I think you have a great idea!!!!
Wow, first of all congratulations that's amazing, well my point of view is this you sound like you are a wonderful couple and so in love with each other so to be honest I don't think she really cares where did you get the ring, the real important and amazing thing is that you are gonna get the ring and propose her, whatever you decide to buy I assure you she will love it, you guys don't have to buy the most expensive ring, is the feeling the one that counts, I have been with my boyfriend for 2 years and half I wished with all my heart my boyfriend propose too and I wouldn't mind where he got the ring.
