I read that tension settings have a 60-80 % failure rate, but I have no idea where this information comes from.
Thanks very much for any helpNeed advice on engagement rings- tension versus channel settings?
both are very nice rings. they are both secure as well. I have a channel and prong engagement ring and have seen lots of tension rings. The point of the tension right is to not take the beauty away from the diamond, but i think they are both lovely. when you're buying a ring, just go with what you like, and what you think she will like. just remember to ask about some sort of guarantee. my ring came from zales.......and they have a lifetime guarantee on the diamonds in my ring....the only catch is i have to bring it in every 6 months so they can check the settings and clean it. you would think that's a pain in the butt, but its actually awesome because i get my ring cleaned for free! good luck!Need advice on engagement rings- tension versus channel settings?
When I was shopping for mine, they recommended me away from tension settings. There is literally just tension holding the stone(s) in place. I would heed that statistic, even if it is insured or replaceable, do you really want to lose the actual diamonds he gave you? I don't
as for durability they tie, but i think that Channel is more attractive, just go with the one you like best the truth is neither has been proved to be more durable than the other.
good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the ring you want.
